Emergency? Call 911. These numbers are for non-emergencies only.

Privacy policy

Last updated November 4, 2026. This policy covers the Dispatch Directory website (nonemergencynumbers.com) and the Dispatch Directory Android app.

The short version

Dispatch Directory doesn't have accounts, doesn't show ads, doesn't use analytics or tracking, and doesn't sell or share personal information. Your location never leaves your device.

Searches and lookups

Android app: the directory is stored on your device and searches run on your device. Each time you open the app it asks our server whether newer directory data is available, and downloads it if so. That request contains no personal information.

Website: when you look up a place, the ZIP code, city, county, area code, or map point you chose is sent to our server (api.nonemergencynumbers.com) to fetch the numbers. We don't store these lookups.

Like any web service, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) briefly processes your IP address to deliver pages and to limit automated access (rate limiting). We don't keep your IP address.

"Use my current location"

If you tap this and allow it, your device's approximate location is matched to the nearest ZIP or postal code on your device. Your location is not sent to us or anyone else, and it isn't stored.

Typed street addresses

If you search for a full street address that isn't already in the directory, the address you typed is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to find the matching place. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.

Change requests

If you submit a correction, we store what you entered (the agency, the corrected phone number or address, and your note) along with the place it's about, so we can check it against official sources. We also store a one-way, daily-changing code derived from your IP address to limit abuse; it can't be turned back into your IP address. Please don't include personal information in the note.

Tips

Tips are optional. In the Android app they're handled by Google Play, and on the website by Stripe. We never see or store your card or payment details. Google Play and Stripe process payments under their own privacy policies: Google, Stripe. We receive a record of the payment (amount and date, and for Stripe the email address you enter there) for our accounting.

Children

Dispatch Directory is a general-audience reference tool and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You can use Dispatch Directory without sharing any personal information: location and tips are optional, and the app works offline. To ask about or delete a change request you sent, use "Submit a change request" and tell us, and we'll remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
